Pick up your meal, and take it home! Mulu will be preparing an Ethiopian and Eritrean dinner at the O’Brien Community Center, 32 Malletts Bay Ave. in Winooski. Meat, vegan, and gluten-free options are available.
Minchet Abish Wat, (Spicy ground beef) Slow cook with onion, berbere, garlic, ginger, clarified butter and some seasoning served with boiled egg.
Yemesser Wat, (spicy lentil sauce) Lentils cooked with spicy berbere, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger.
Gomen, chopped collard greens, slow cooked with onion, tomato, celery, jalapeños, garlic, ginger and herbs.
Atkilt Alicha, curried vegetables stew made with green beans, carrots, onion, garlic and ginger.
All of the dishes come with injera and rice. Injera, an Ethiopian and Eritrean, sourdough-risen flatbread with a unique slightly spongy texture.
Berbere is a key ingredient in Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine. Berbere is a spice mixture of dried red hot peppers, onion, coriander, cardamom, fenugreek, cumin, nutmeg, garlic, ginger, and herbs.
