All Generations Will Call Me Blessed

"Hail, Mary! The Lord is with you" were the words of the angel who appeared to Mary with news of God's plans for her. Her response was "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God". Throughout Christian history, the importance of the mother of Jesus has been extolled in music, art and literature. On this Mother's Day Weekend, Aurora Chamber Singers presents music composed in Mary's honor.

The program includes a diversity of musical styles and textures. Ancient, medieval and modern chant combine with music by Heinrich Schütz, Anton Bruckner, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Henryk Gorecki and our own music director, David Neiweem, to bring over 10 centuries of music based on the impact of this religious figure.
