Becky Tracy and Keith Murphy

Becky and Keith are dynamic performers of traditional music from Newfoundland, Quebec, Ireland, France and beyond. Tracy’s fiddling pulses through tasteful arrangements of dance tunes and resonates with beauty on traditional slow airs. Keith’s gentle and expressive singing in English and French is balanced by the drive and power of his guitar playing and foot percussion. Combined, they produce a range and richness of sound that is striking for a duo. Their playing is seamless, the result of years of playing together and touring across the U.S., Canada and in Europe. Their repertoire also includes Keith’s original compositions (many of which are included in the Black Isle Music tune collection). He is a prolific tunesmith with a writing style strongly based on traditional dance music. This music is elegantly represented in their duo recording, Golden, released in early 2020.

Keith and Becky were two thirds of the popular Vermont trio, Nightingale and are veterans of several other bands including Childsplay and Assembly (Keith) and Wild Asparagus (Becky). They can be heard on recordings of all these bands and many others. Becky released her first solo recording, Evergreen, in 2001 and in recent years has been active with Eloise & Co which released their debut album, More Please in 2018. Land of Fish and Seals (2018) is Keith’s most recent solo recording.

Stove Dragon

Four of New England’s finest contra musicians come together into a single kindly dance-beast: meet Stove Dragon, breathing in notes and breathing out smoldering rhythms and flickering melodies, igniting dancers' feet and toasting listeners' ears.

Oliver Scanlon (fiddle, mandolin, feet, vocals) and Rose Jackson (fiddle, vocals) fill the room with melodic lift and tight, dynamic double-fiddle harmony, while Sam Zakon-Anderson (keyboard) and Max Newman (guitar, mandolin) are a beating heart of fiery piano-guitar groove.

Stove Dragon draws on the combined tool kits of their individual experiences touring with Pete’s Posse, Nor’easter, Polaris, The StringRays and more. Their music propels you forward through snappy New England tunes, punchy French Canadian sets, smooth and driving Irish reels, delightful improvisations, and trad-inspired originals, all infused with the subtle warmth of excellent musicianship.

Let Stove Dragon take you for a spin, but hold on tight!

Crooked Mowth

Crooked Mowth is an a cappella quartet from the Boston area, conceived by harmony-hungry friends during the COVID-19 pandemic. Haley Fisher, Jennie O’Brien, Jim Henderson, and James Gerke deliver a rich vocal blend and unique arrangements to songs old and new. Though the performers already have a comfortable home in the trad/folk style of singing, their goal is to make an impactful sound across genres. Their 2 EPs, Have You Been Listening? and New Kicks, are both available on Bandcamp.
