Would you like to take a trip to Asia without getting on a plane? In this workshop, you'll try your hand at Watoji or Japanese bookbinding. You'll learn three traditional binding styles - Yotsume Toji (Four-hole Binding), Koki Toji/Kangxi (Noble Binding), and Asa-No-Ha Toji (Hemp Leaf Binding). In this workshop, each participant will leave class with 3 books and a basic knowledge of bookbinding technique. No previous experience required – this is a great class for a beginner. All tools and materials will be provided.
This workshop will take place at the Fletcher Free Library from 12-2 on Sunday, October 1st, as part of the Green Mountain Book Festival, a three day literary celebration in downtown Burlington, Vermont. This is a FREE event with space for 12 participants, and enrollment is first come, first served.
This event is intended for adults. There will be a separate book making workshop for children later on Sunday. For more information or to sign up for that workshop, please visit our website: https://www.greenmountainbookfestival.org/
