Celebrate Juneteenth with a concert featuring The Blackburn Brothers at Retro Live on June 19th, starting at 7 pm. The Blackburn Brothers are an award-winning 4th generation Canadian band of brothers who are descendants of freedom seekers through the Underground Railroad. Their songs are inspired by history, freedom, legacy, family, black unity, and love. The band's latest album, SoulFunkn'BLUES, has garnered international acclaim, a 2024 JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year, as well as three American 2024 Blues Music Awards nominations for Album of the Year, SoulBlues Album of the Year and Song of the Year. The band's music will get you dancing with its blend of history, blues, soul, groove, rhythm, and life.
Retro Live will be transformed into a music club with ample space, high-top tables, a wrap-around balcony, seating, and a dance floor. Tickets for the event cost $20 if purchased in advance and $25 on the day of the show. Plattsburgh and the North Country have a rich history associated with the Underground Railroad and the escape of slaves to Canada, and the event will have more elements added to celebrate this day of emancipation.
