About the workshop:
18+ / Open to all degrees of experience
This unique collage self portrait workshop will teach you how to create a visualized self portrait using a contemporary approach. You will explore and hone your technique using materials such as paper, paint, ink, pencil, marker, and glue, comprised of self constructed shapes and dynamic composition.
The workshop is designed to be a warm and nourishing experience, where you can make art alongside other individuals in a small group environment. This will be a low stress, down to earth experience and welcome all in wherever you are on your art exploration process. Class price includes a light lunch, tea, as well as the use of some established base materials. Students are encouraged to bring the materials listed above. The list will also be included in your workshop confirmation email, along with location and building access instructions for reference.
Please email [email protected] with any questions or if you have any concerns about bringing materials, etc.
About the Instructor:
Ana Koehler is a Burlington-based mixed media visual artist whose work is inspired by human bodies, transition, transformation, connection to self and the elements. Currently working with paper, the artist draws, paints, collages and creates time-based media, often through a process of constructing, deconstructing, and later re-imagining figures in new ways. The artist arrives at intimate, emotionally-charged, layered forms that are surreal and explore connection, fluidity, feminism, and existence. Ana’s work can be seen on Instagram @ana_koehler and at Soapbox Arts in the Soda Plant in Burlington VT.
