Rachel Sargent Mirus, Duxbury artist and biologist, instructing a series of fun and creative science-based art explorations created for all levels of self-directed art! Expect a mix of art-making and art discussion that is scaled to engage both the practicing and aspiring artist.

Sessions can be attended separately or as a series.

Session 1: February 6-- Birds & dinosaurs. We will learn about birds and feathers through drawing and observation, then begin a project individually creating feathered dinosaurs.
Session 2: February 13-- Fish & mermaids. We will learn about fish through drawing and observation, then begin a project imagining our own versions of mermaids that students will continue in the subsequent week.
Session 3:February 20-- Beetles & trilobites. We will learn about the insect worlds' most diverse order through drawing and observation, then begin a project imagining what diverse trilobites would have looked like that students will continue as their own project.
Session 4: February 27--Mammals & folk animals. We will learn about mammals through drawing and observation, then begin a project imagining our own folk animals, like the “Jackalope”, that students will continue as their own project.
