Nature journaling is a fun and relaxing way to learn about the natural world through drawing and nature writing. We will spend the morning entirely outside, surrounded by the beautiful Horsford Gardens while practicing observational sketching and nature writing. Focusing on garden themes, this workshop will introduce students of any age and ability to basic nature journaling skills, which can be tailored to any outdoor interests. Each day we’ll warm up with writing prompts and sketching exercises, try some different art materials, and learn strategies for identifying plants and animals. August 22 will focus on trees.
Please register by the Thursday before the class. While this is a more mature workshop, adults are welcome to bring interested kids for just an extra $10. All students will need to dress for outdoor conditions and should bring their favorite non-electronic writing/drawing tools. We will be following all the usual social distancing recommendations. Any additional materials will be provided.
Please email instructor Rachel Sargent Mirus at [email protected] with any questions and I look forward to meeting you!
