Colorado potato beetle (CPB) is a major, destructive pest of solanaceous crops and is particularly a problem for organic growers, as there are few organic treatment options available.
Join Scott Lewins and Victor Izzo of UVM Plant & Soil Science Department as we tour Intervale Community Farm (ICF) and discuss their VT Agency of Ag. Specialty Crops Block Grant funded project combing beneficial nematodes in the soil with Beauveria bassiana, a beneficial fungus, to manage CPB. Along with ICF, they are performing field trials that integrate these biological control agents in a two-pronged approach designed to give organic growers options for the long-term, sustainable management of CPB.
Event costs $5 to attend.
