Event Details

The Morrígan, conceived and directed by New Hampshire dance artist Erin McNulty, is a contemporary dance performance inspired by its namesake, a key but mysterious goddess entity in pre-Christian Irish mythology. She appears as maiden, crone, mother, raven, eel, wolf, and disembodied voice. She is both nature, and woman - always encountered, never owned.

Two chances to see the performance - at 3pm and 4pm - at the Path of Life Sculpture Garden in Windsor, VT. Performance duration is 30-40 minutes.

Pre-purchased tickets are highly encouraged, but a limited number will be available at the door (CASH OR VENMO ONLY). RAIN DATE: Sunday, October 15th, same times.

Please note: This is a mobile performance along dirt and mowed grass pathways at the garden; wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Viewers are welcome to bring towels or folding chairs that can be easily carried for mobile seating. If you have any accessibility concerns, feel free to email Erin at [email protected].

More about the work:

Featuring a cast of six dancers representing New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York, the piece is a 30-40 minute guided journey through The Path of Life Sculpture Garden. Viewers will encounter dancers and local musicians throughout the landscape, investigating different aspects of this shapeshifting Irish goddess of war and fate, fertility and death. Viewers and performers alike are invited to meditate on the false divide between humans and nature, the balance of violence and beauty inherent in survival, and the nuanced power of women in myth. This work is the culmination of a year of research, which began as a solo, grew into a trio for the stage, and developed into the outdoor ensemble work presented here.
